Conceal and Cover – Make up fixes for Your wedding

Concealer is not only great for the face. If you are having a destination wedding and showing off a lot of skin, you want to look and feel your best all over the body as well. An old tattoo, minor imperfections, a bruise, scar can easily be covered.

Here are my top picks for a quick fix. Enjoy!

Cover Fx Cream Concealer

cover fx cream concealerconcealer brush

Cover Fx Cream Concealer is exceptional. The coverage is so smooth, even and very high in pigment. The concealer comes in a vast array of colours to match every skin tone. It covers tattoos and any other imperfections with ease. Powder in between layers and set to finish. I also love the Cover FX concealer brush. It can easily blend out edges as well as be used to stipple concealer for perfect coverage.

If you have an uneven scar, adding a little of the Cover FX primer before concealer application will help even the skin. Bonus – SPF 30 is added perfect for any hot climate.

Laura Mercier’s Secret Camouflage
laura mercier
This amazing concealer really covers and stays put with no creasing, smudging or smearing. It comes in fantastic shades. I love that it has 2 different pots so you can formulate the perfect tone. Even if you get a little bit more tanned! Laura Mercier really is an expert at concealing. Just perfection!

Dermablend Leg and Body Cover

 Dermablend

Dermablend is fantastic. This light formula contains very high pigment that really does last 16 hours. Go ahead, sweat, run in the rain – it does not budge. Perfect for larger areas on the body such as stretch marks, tattoos and more. It comes in 14 colours to match every skin tone. The setting powder which. may be purchased separately is fantastic for a finish.

Best Tip* To make coverage look as natural as possible, adding a mole, freckles or whatever is surrounding your natural skin tone helps it blend in flawlessly.

Pointers for the Perfect Pout

Congratulations! You are getting married! Nothing says love like a kiss. To keep your pout perfect – here are some of the best tips! Enjoy!

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize

Whether you are a lipstick lover or a gloss girl – moisturized lips are always sexy.

*Best Tip

The night before, slough off any dry skin on your lips with an extra toothbrush. I always keep one in the bathroom just for lips after brushing my teeth. Apply a lip balm. Lips will feel like new by morning. Vaseline also works very well.

Nivea’s “A Kiss of Protection” features sunflower and jojoba oils as well as vitamin E and an SPF of 30 to keep your pout pristine.

Less is more

The more natural the colour and texture, the less fuss and worry about making sure your lips look perfect at all times especially after kisses, eating and drinking. I love M.A.C Lipglass in Prrr. The colour is gorgeous, natural and looks great on every skin tone.

Line your lips

If you are going to be wearing a vibrant lip colour, lining lips first will keep the colour on for much longer. Lip liner is also great if you want to change the shape of your lips by making them symmetrical or bigger. Apply the same colour lip liner (the dark liner and light lipstick which I call “oreo mouth” days are long gone.) to your entire lip. Blot. Then apply lipstick. A lip brush creates pristine results. Blot again. Touch up as needed.

*Best Tip

Use a concealer brush with face powder to line around the outside of your lips to prevent lipstick from bleeding.

I love the Rimmel London Eggagerate Automatic Lipliner. It keeps lipstick from bleeding, comes in a great variety of shades and is very long lasting without drying out your lips.

I love the Beautiful Colour Moisturizing lipsticks by Elizabeth Arden. These high pigment lipsticks come in such a beautiful array of shades last 12 hours while leaving lips soft and supple.

The only great stain – Lipstain!

Lip stain is great if you are looking for a sheer hint of colour that lasts for hours. I love the line by Benefit as it can be used for cheeks as well. Apply to the apples of the cheeks and lips with the little brush and blend in with fingers. May be layered for a more dramatic look too. Benetint (Berry), Cha Chatint (Peach/Coral), Lollitint and Posietint (Warm Pink) look great on all skin tones.

Use straws

Use straws as much as possible when it comes to drinking. I like to keep a few of the covered ones you can get from Starbucks in my purse, just in case.

Top 4 Mistakes Photographers Make Working with a Makeup Artist

Natalia Zurawska has been a professional makeup/hair/spfx artist for the last 10 years. Having had had the opportunity to work with some of the most amazing international photographers, Zurawska has learned a thing or two from her experiences. That being said, Natalia has shared some top-notch feedback with us. Take it away, Natalia!

Many common errors can easily solve a lot of time, money as well as frustration so that every shoot is fun and seamless – no pun intended. So here are 4 of the ones I’ve noticed most in my time working with Photographers.

IMG_221. Lack of Communication

Communication is key to every relationship and a lack of it causes unnecessary stress and frustration. Creatives are a great way to build teams. A creative is when a photographer, makeup/hair artist, model and sometimes wardrobe stylist get together and collaborate on a photo shoot for their portfolio. It is also called a TFP – time for prints.

As a photographer, you are the boss. Decide what kind of shoot you would like to work on and who you would like to work with that is perfect for the job. Discuss ideas, additional expenses if they are needed and email everyone to keep them in the loop and set up a date. Also discuss if you provide prints for free or just digital files.

IMG_212. Lack of Scheduling

It is really important to find out how long it will take to do a particular hairstyle or makeup look. Also, some makeup artists just do makeup, find out if they do both makeup and hair or if you will need a separate hair person as well as an assistant if you are using more than one model. Having people standing around creates a lot of chatter and lack of focus. Make a schedule for the day of the shoot so that everything is neatly organized. This way everyone knows what is expected and runs smoothly.

3. Lack of Details

Sometimes shoots are outdoors. Make sure to let everyone know this so they may dress appropriately. If you are shooting out of town, make sure everyone has a way to get there if they don’t drive. Ask if anyone has any allergies. There are many little details like this that may be overlooked and yet make a huge difference when shooting.

IMG_044. Lack of Good Treatment

As a photographer it is up to you to provide food if it is going to be a long day. Water should always be handy. If it is cold outside, having a heater or warming gloves makes a big difference. Treating everyone well, creates amazing results and lasting relationships. Always pay on time and provide any additional expense money up front or on the day of the shoot. The more fun and positive the atmosphere, the better the experience for everyone.

I hope you have enjoyed these tips! Happy Shooting Everyone!

Best Beauty Picks For Summer

http://anokhimedia.com/blog/best-beauty-picks-for-summer

Wedding Beauty Do’s and Don’ts

Weddings are such amazing celebrations of love and unity, but your wedding will also be the most important beauty-focused day of your life. With all of the photos and video that will be shot on your wedding day, looking your best is key. Here are some of my favourite hair and makeup tips and tricks:

Wedding Beauty Do’s
When looking for wedding hair and makeup styles, inspiration can be anywhere. Keep in mind that your hair style should seem realistic. It’s also a good tip to arrange for a hair and makeup trial to ease a lot of stress on the day of the wedding.

  • It is best to go with a look that is similar to your natural hair style.
  • A more natural makeup look is also great if your skin reacts differently to more humid weather, typical of weddings that take place in the summer season.
  • Waterproof mascara is a must – especially if the tears start to flow. Waterproof eyeliner formulations are also a great idea.

There are dozens of beauty products out there to get you ready for your big day. Here are a few of my favourites:

  • If you have great skin, Hello Flawless by Benefit is for you. It is a powder that may be used wet or dry.  You can also spot apply in layers like a concealer.
  • If you need added coverage, Face Atelier Foundation is great. It has a primer built right in to keep makeup on all day and night. It also comes in a variety of tones for every ethnicity. The result is flawless skin. I like to apply it to eyelids as well to keep eye shadow on for hours.
  • I love the Climate Control hairspray by Tresemme. Hair stays put, yet can be brushed through and the shine is incredible.
  • The Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray by Tresemme is my one of my favourites. It not only protects your hair from heat, it tames frizzies and makes curls last longer and smells so good.
  • Covergirl 24 Hour Lashblast mascara is fantastic. It lengthens, adds volume and separates lashes while staying put all day and night. It washes off well with makeup remover – it’s a must have for any bride.

Wedding Beauty Don’ts

  • Don’t change your hair colour or cut it drastically right before your wedding.
  • Don’t get a wax days before your wedding. If waxing or laser hair removal is normal for you, schedule your appointment at least 3 days beforehand in case of an allergy or redness.
  • Spray tans are tricky and the last thing you want to do is look orange for your big day. If you really want a sun-kissed glow I would suggest a practice run before the wedding to make sure you like the colour.
